Our Statement of Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Together, we achieve greater results, build stronger relationships and deliver meaningful impact by demonstrating our commitment of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to our employees, customers and communities. We intentionally seek out, attract and engage with those who want to collaborate in our mission to create a culture of belonging that celebrates diversity and ensures all our employees can thrive. Our inclusive workplace is courageous, innovative and bold. We hold one another accountable to the highest standards of integrity, transparency and equity in every one of our actions.

Building a More Diverse, Inclusive Workforce

It's one thing to talk about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). It's another to put plans into action to ensure a more diverse, inclusive workforce. Yellow and its subsidiaries are Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employers, committed to building a more diverse workforce. Below are programs that Yellow supports or partners with to help maintain our strong commitment to diversity.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Advisory Council

In 2020, a group of 12 leaders from different functional areas across Yellow came together to form our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Advisory Council. Since that time, the council has grown to 18 members who collaborate with partners throughout the organization as we strive to create an inclusive culture of belonging that recognizes diversity is a strategic advantage. In 2022, the American Trucking Associations recognized our DEIB efforts by naming Yellow among nine companies to receive the inaugural ATA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Change Leader Award

The council has identified the following three pillars that fuel our approach to DEIB at Yellow:

Be YOU at Yellow

Our workplaces include trusting, safe spaces to have honest, courageous conversations about DEIB. We are building trust, encouraging compassion and open-mindedness, and reinforcing our commitment to accessibility and a culture of belonging.

Our People Drive Our Success

We work with our DEIB Advisory Council, executive leadership and workforce to evaluate and develop concrete, strategic action plans to prioritize and drive accountability for DEIB at Yellow.  We proactively identify, engage, and advocate for diverse ideas, interests and perspectives.

We are Driven by Integrity to Respect, Value and Include Everyone

We will build strong partnerships with customers, suppliers, and the communities that we serve. We seek out relationships that exemplify our commitment to DEIB.

Women and Trucking

Women are a strong and growing part of the trucking industry, serving roles that include drivers, dock workers, equipment managers, corporate positions and much more. But more needs to be done to promote and support women in trucking. At Yellow, we constantly strive to create an empowering workspace for the incredible women at our company.

"We have a place in this industry."

At Yellow, there are many opportunities for women to grow and succeed, including programs that support their career development. Watch women employees of Yellow discuss their journeys and experiences working in the trucking industry.

Yellow's diversity efforts include partnerships with organizations and initiatives that promote recruitment and professional growth for women in the industry.

Women In Trucking

Since 2007, this nonprofit organization has promoted women’s employment in our industry by expanding recruiting programs and encouraging more female-friendly environments at trucking companies and truck stops. Women In Trucking (WIT) holds its annual Accelerate! conference each November, enabling women in the industry to network and enhance their professional growth.

WIT has recognized Yellow as a leading employer for women for several years in a row. Over the past four years, 33 Yellow professionals have been named to WIT's prestigious "Top Women to Watch." In 2022, Yellow driver Peggy Arnold was honored as WIT's "Driver of the Year" for her commitment to safety, standards and service.

Military Hiring Programs

Yellow has a strong history of supporting our troops and honoring the sacrifices they have made to preserve our freedom. That’s why we go the extra mile to provide rewarding careers for our former service members. We are proud and grateful when Yellow and our employees are recognized for such efforts.

We recently received the 2023 Military Friendly® Employer designation as well as the National Defense Transportation Association Pathfinder Society Award. These honors recognize Yellow's support for America's military heroes and our focus on recruitment of veterans.

Each December, Yellow participates in Wreaths Across America, a coordinated effort to remember and honor our nation's military veterans through wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and other locations across the United States. In December 2022, Yellow employees sponsored more than 660 wreaths at 33 cemeteries nationwide

A Military-Friendly Employer

We have a proud history of hiring, supporting and retaining employees who are transitioning from the military to civilian life. Hear military veterans speak about their experiences being a part of Team Yellow.

U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) Program

We are proud to be a part of PaYS, a partnership between the U.S. Army and a cross-section of private and public employers that provides soldiers with career opportunities after serving their country. PaYS partners like Yellow guarantee soldiers an interview and possible employment after the Army.

The Yellow Inclusion Network

The Yellow Inclusion Network consists of five Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that are designed to build professional relationships, foster allyship, enhance the employee experience and prepare future leaders for all roles critical to our success as One Yellow. These peer-to-peer networks are open to all Yellow employees, whether in the terminals, on the road or in our offices. More than 750 Yellow employees actively participate in these groups and that number continues to grow with our company's DEIB efforts.

These ERGs are:

Women's Inclusion Network

At Yellow, we recognize the value that women bring to the transportation industry. Our newly expanded Women’s Inclusion Network is dedicated to supporting and developing a strong pool of future leaders at Yellow through mentoring, networking events and professional development. The group hosts several events throughout the year and collaborates with organizations like Women In Trucking that are dedicated to attracting, developing and retaining women in the industry.

Veterans Enrichment and Troop Support (VETS)

The mission of VETS is to support Yellow employees who are past and present members of the military, Reserves and National Guard, as well as their spouses and families. The group facilitates specific mentoring and leadership development opportunities, and specialized learning programs to improve veterans’ employee experience at Yellow. VETS has also engaged in community initiatives to honor and support service members like Wreaths Across America and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Multicultural Inclusion Network

At Yellow, we know that a workforce made up of diverse communities, religions and cultural backgrounds helps keep our company strong. The Multicultural Inclusion Network was formed to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment for employees of all cultures and identities. Employees can share their unique perspectives as well as network with people from across the company they might not have otherwise known.

Emerging Professionals Inclusion Network (EPIN)

This group serves as a resource for Yellow employees to network within the company, enhance their professional development and advance their careers. The Emerging Professionals Inclusion Network welcomes all employees who wish to build a career at Yellow, and provides several opportunities for learning, mentorship and interaction with the executive team.

Pride Inclusion Network

A recent addition to Yellow's ERG groups, the Pride Inclusion Network was formed to help build awareness and understanding among Yellow employees about LGBTQIA perspectives and interests.
